With the aim of starting to bridge the gap between vision and policy, the following were identified as key to implementing the Inquiry's recommendations.
Languages Ladder: a study into the feasibility of developing a unified national standards framework for languages, which would:
• allow people with, or wishing to acquire, language skills to obtain recognition of those slkills without unnecessary complication;
• offer a step-by step approach to language learning;
• provide benchmarks and points of comparison for learners, employers and providers.
E-language learning for adults: a joint venture with BBC Education to explore the role of blended learning in developing flexible language learning opportunties for adults
A New Landscape for Languages: a wake-up call for languages in 16-19 education and higher education, identifying current and future challenges for languages in these sectors
Languages and Employability: a report on the relationship between language skills and employability
Agenda for Languages: a language policy for a multilingual society
Bilingual learning: a feasibility study
